Downloading Books

Purchasing a book will provide you with a link to download the file. Steps to access and utilize the file may vary depending on the device used and the format  purchased.

ePub files: An ePub file (electronic publication) is a common format utilized to view books in specialized e-reader applications such as Apple Books and Google Play Books and is recommended for users who utilize those applications.

  • From a Mac computer: A book purchased in an ePub format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-clicking the ePub file will open the book automatically in Apple Books. If you have Sync Collections enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From a Windows computer: A book purchased in an ePub format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-clicking on the file will open it in the computer's default ePub reader. There are many ePub readers available; our recommended solution is Adobe Digital Editions. 

  • From an iOS device (iPhone or iPad): A book purchased in an ePub format will open in Apple Books. If Sync Collections is enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From an Android device: A book in ePub format downloaded on an Android device (such as a Samsung smartphone or tablet) will open automatically in Google Play Books. 

 

Mobi files: A Mobi file is a file utilized to view books in various e-reader application, but most commonly Kindle e-readers and apps​It is recommended to only purchase a Mobi format if planning to either read on a Kindle device or use a Kindle app.

  • From a Mac computer: A book purchased in Mobi format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Be sure to have a Kindle e-Reader app installed. Otherwise, plug in the Kindle to your device and, using Mac Finder, navigate to the downloaded Mobi file and copy to the Kindle device. Once copied, the book will be available for reading on the Kindle itself. 

  • From a Windows computer: A book purchased in Mobi format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Be sure to have a Kindle e-Reader app installed. Otherwise, plug in your Kindle to your device and, using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the downloaded Mobi file and copy to the Kindle device. Once copied, the book will be available for reading on the Kindle itself. 

  • From an iOS device (iPhone or iPad): A book purchased in Mobi format will be saved to the Files app. Attach the file to an Email and use the "Send to Kindle" email address to transfer to your Kindle or view in the Kindle app. 

  • From an Android device: A book purchased in Mobi format and downloaded on an Android device (such as a Samsung smartphone or tablet) will be saved to the My Files app. Attach the file to an Email and use the "Send to Kindle" email address to transfer to your Kindle or view in the Kindle app. 

 

PDF files: A PDF file (portable document format) is a common format to view documents across all devices and operating systems. A PDF is not optimized for books and often lacks the robustness of an ePub file but can be universally utilized across all computers, smartphones, tablets and e-readers.

  • From a Mac computer: A book /screenplay purchased in PDF format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-clicking the PDF file will open the download automatically in the Mac Preview app. To view in Apple Books: open Apple Books, select File and choose Add to Library. You can then browse to the PDF and add the selection to your Apple Books library.  If Sync Collections is enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From a Windows computer: A book/screenplay purchased in PDF format will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-clicking on the file will open it using your computer's default PDF reader. There are many PDF readers available; the most common solution utilized is Adobe Reader. 

  • From an iOS device (iPhone or iPad): A book/screenplay purchased in PDF format will be saved to the Files app. Open the file from that  app and the document will open automatically in Apple Books. If Sync Collections is enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From an Android device: A book/screenplay purchased in PDF format and downloaded on an Android device (such as a Samsung smartphone or tablet) will be saved to the My Files app. Double-clicking on the file will open it using the device's default PDF reader. There are many PDF readers available; the most common solution utilized is Adobe Reader. 

 

Audiobook files: Audiobooks are in m4b format, a format optimized for Apple Books and Audible. Your purchased audiobook will be zipped by default. ​

  • From a Mac computer: An audiobook ZIP file will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-clicking on the zipped file will uncompress it and open the file automatically in Apple Books. If Sync Collections is enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the audio file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From a Windows computer: An audiobook ZIP file will be saved to the Downloads folder. Double-click the zipped file to open; the m4b file found inside, once also double-clicked, will open in the default application that plays m4b files. If you do not have an application to process m4b files (such as iTunes), an audio player will need to be downloaded. 

  • From an iOS device (iPhone or iPad): An audiobook ZIP file will be saved to the Files app. Selecting the zipped file will uncompress it and open the file automatically within the Files app. It is recommended that you transfer this file to a desktop computer and import to an audio player that will recognize m4b files. (For instance, if  transferring to a Mac computer,  the file can be opened in Apple Books.) If Sync Collections is enabled (found in Apple Books Preferences), the file will synchronize across your Apple devices.

  • From an Android device: An audiobook Zip file purchased on an Android device (such as a Samsung smartphone or tablet) will be saved to the My Files app.  Double-click on the file to extract it to your desired location. You must have an audiobook app that can process m4b files installed on your Android device to play the file. 

Streaming/ Purchasing Songs

Previews: All songs and albums on michaelaba.com are available in thirty-second previews. Complete lyrics are also available; simply select the musical bar with the three dashes (to the right of the volume control), either before the album begins or when on a specific selection. Complete songs will also be randomly chosen from time to time to be presented on the website.

Streaming: All albums can be streamed from major music streaming sites, including Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora and YouTube. A subscription to any of these sites will allow for downloads of any album or song to your devices.

​

​Purchasing: If you do not have a subscription to any streaming service, purchases of mp3 files may be made through Amazon.com or Apple Music.
